The next general election seems a long way away, but when the time comes, many people are in for a big surprise. If you live in Stroud Green, you may find you are no longer part of Hornsey and Wood Green constituency, but instead are part of Tottenham.

So why are we talking about it right now?

Because now you can still do something about it, by responding to the Boundary Commission consultation, in 3 simple steps,  by the 5th of December 2011. But before you do, take a quick look at what is happening and what rules the Boundary Commission will follow, when considering representations from the public.

In this short video we spoke to Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green and Stroud Green Councillors Katherine Reece and Richard Wilson on what would be the implications of such a change for local residents. We also asked people living in Stroud Green ward how they feel about the proposed change.

We also asked David Lammy MP for Tottenham, for his views and comments, but sadly we have not heard back from him to this day.

Stroud Green CPZ extends to include Hornsey Vale roads by mid December

Haringey to fast track Stroud Green CPZ extension into the Hornsey Vale roads making it operable as soon as mid December. A Project Engineer from Haringey Traffic Management said:

"I can now inform you that Councillor Canver has approved the extension of the Stroud Green CPZ as proposed during statutory notification in July.

We will be distributing a works notice letter outlining the council’s decision and processes to apply for permits next week.

Works on site will commence on 7 November. The extension will go live on 12 December after completion of required site works."

key milestones for the delivery of these extensions:

• Drafting and printing of works notice: Finalised by 1 November
• Distribution of works notices to community: 1-3  November
• Publication of Notice of Making: 3 November
• Start of site works: 7 November
• Go live date for extensions: 12 December
  

Haringey CPZ permits cost is set according to cars CO2 emissions. the cost of permits is regularly reviewed and hiked by Haringey Parking department, despite having a significant surplus consistently over the last few years. Current prices introduced in 2011 are in red.
